Volume Loss
As we age, we see gradual changes in our face including the bone, ligaments, muscle fat and collagen. These changes affect areas like the cheeks, jawline, chin, lips, and under the eyes.
These changes can lead to concerns of lacking facial shape and contour, or you may start to show signs of skin sagging and deepening of facial wrinkles.
At Your Aesthetic, we specialise in addressing these concerns through a personalised consultation.
Our consultations ensure we understand your specific needs and aesthetic goals FIRST. Our registered nurses will then be able to design a customised treatment plan.
Before and After images of previous client results can be seen in a Consultation with one of our Nurses.
Common areas of concern
-
Cheeks
The cheeks lose volume and structure due to a reduction in fat, collagen, and bone support, causing them to appear flatter or hollow. This can lead to sagging and the formation of nasolabial folds (smile lines)
-
Lips
As we age, our lips lose volume and become thinner in appearance. Fine lines can also develop around the mouth, and the lips may appear less defined and less hydrated over time.
-
Chin
The chin can lose definition due to a reduction in bone density and soft tissue support, leading to sagging skin and the appearance of a weaker or recessed chin. Fat deposits may accumulate under the chin, and the jawline can become less sharp.
-
Jawline
The jawline can lose definition due to a natural decrease in bone density, muscle tone, and skin elasticity. This can lead to sagging skin, jowls, and a softer jawline appearance.
-
Nasolabial folds (Smile lines)
Nasolabial folds become more pronounced due to the loss of skin elasticity, fat, and collagen, causing the skin to sag and fold more deeply.
-
Temples
The temples can lose collagen, fat and muscle volume, causing a hollow or sunken appearance. This is where overall facial harmony can be affected.

PRE & POST TREATMENT
1 WEEK PRIOR TO TREATMENT
1 week prior to your appointment
- AVOID ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oils and other blood thinning medications, supplements and foods (NOTE: Discuss with your GP prior to stopping prescribed medications)
2 - 5 days prior to your appointment:
- AVOID using skin care with active ingredients, such as retinols and AHA/BHA products
- AVOID waxing, tweezing and hair removal to your desired treatment area (irritated skin areas cannot be treated with cosmetic products)
- If you're prone to bruising and swelling, you can begin taking arnica tablets (available at most health food stores)
24 HOURS BEFORE TREATMENT
- AVOID alcohol intake and smoking
- Notify your nurse if you have any active cold sores and intend on having lip volumiser treatment (this is contraindicated)
TREATMENT DAY PREPARATION
- Ensure you're well hydrated and have eaten something substantial (this is to avoid feeling or becoming faint)
- AVOID caffeine
- Arrive with a clean face, if possible
POST TREATMENT CARE
- Do not rub or touch the treated areas today, and avoid pressure to the treatment areas for one week
- Keep the area clean and do not apply make up for at least 12-24 hours after treatment
- Avoid physical/strenuous activity for 24 hours
- Avoid alcohol consumption for 24 hours
- Attempt to sleep on your back for the first 1-3 nights following facial treatments, such as cheek, chin and jawline treatment
- Avoid exposure to heat for 24 hours (i.e sauna, spa, sun exposure, sun bathing)
- Avoid hot drinks for 2 hours if you have had lip filler
- Opt for paracetamol to treat any pain. Avoid ibuprofen (Nurofen), diclofenac (Voltaren) and Aspirin for 24 hours
- Avoid facial and laser treatments to the treatment area for 2 - 4 weeks
- For cheek augmentation it is recommended to avoid restrictive headwear, including goggles, motorcycle helmets or N95 masks for up to two weeks
- Swelling and bruising is expected after dermal filler. Arnica tablets or hirudoid cream can help to relieve the bruising sooner, and an antihistamine can reduce swelling
- You may feel lumps for up to 2 weeks, as your body integrates the product
- If you can see any lumps at 2 weeks, please book a treatment review appointment for a massage to the area
- If you have a history of coldsores, we recommend you take famciclovir to prevent an outbreak (ask your pharmacist for guidance)
- It is normal to see and feel small lumps of product under the skin after treatment. This should resolve within 1-3 days. If any puffiness has concurred, please allow 2 weeks for this to settle.
