PRE & POST TREATMENT

1 WEEK PRIOR TO TREATMENT

1 week prior to your appointment

  • AVOID ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oils and other blood thinning medications, supplements and foods (NOTE: Discuss with your GP prior to stopping prescribed medications)

2 - 5 days prior to your appointment:

  • AVOID using skin care with active ingredients, such as retinols
  • AVOID waxing, tweezing and hair removal to your desired treatment area (irritated skin areas cannot be treated with cosmetic injections)
  • If you're prone to bruising and swelling, you can begin taking arnica tablets (available at most health food stores)

24 HOURS BEFORE TREATMENT

  • AVOID alcohol intake and smoking
  • Notify your nurse if you have any active cold sores and intend on having lip filler treatment (this is contraindicated)

TREATMENT DAY PREPARATION

  • Ensure you're well hydrated and have eaten something substantial (this is to avoid feeling or becoming faint)
  • AVOID caffeine (this can increase your risk of bleeding and bruising)
  • Arrive with a clean face, if possible

POST TREATMENT CARE

  • Do not rub or touch the treated areas today, and avoid pressure to the treatment areas for one week
  • Keep the area clean and do not apply make up for at least 12-24 hours after treatment
  • Avoid physical/strenuous activity for 24 hours
  • Avoid alcohol consumption for 24 hours
  • Attempt to sleep on your back for the first 1-3 nights following facial treatments, such as cheek, chin and jawline filler
  • Avoid exposure to heat for 24 hours (i.e sauna, spa, sun exposure, sun bathing)
  • Avoid hot drinks for 2 hours if you have had lip filler
  • Opt for paracetamol to treat any pain. Avoid ibuprofen (Nurofen), diclofenac (Voltaren) and Aspirin for 24 hours
  • Avoid facial and laser treatments to the treatment area for 2 - 4 weeks
  • For cheek augmentation it is recommended to avoid restrictive headwear, including goggles, motorcycle helmets or N95 masks for up to two weeks
  • Swelling and bruising is expected after dermal filler. Arnica tablets or hirudoid cream can help to relieve the bruising sooner, and an antihistamine can reduce swelling
  • You may feel lumps for up to 2 weeks, as your body integrates the product
  • If you can see any lumps at 2 weeks, please book a treatment review appointment for a massage to the area
  • If you have a history of coldsores, we recommend you take famciclovir to prevent an outbreak (ask your pharmacist)
  • It is normal to see and feel small lumps of product under the skin after treatment. This should resolve within 1-3 days. If any puffiness has concurred, please allow 2 weeks for this to settle.

What is cheek volume loss treatment?

This treatment restores lost volume and enhances the contour of your cheeks, which are naturally occurring molecules in the body. Our approach ensures subtle and natural-looking enhancements, and full cheeks to achieve that youthful look.

Why is cheek volume loss treatment so popular?

One of the most common signs of ageing on the face is the descent of the cheeks. Cheek volume loss treatment works to support the bottom half of the face for a full rejuvenation

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS CAN I EXPECT?

When contemplating a Cheek Volume Loss treatment, it’s essential to be aware of some mild side effects. It’s completely normal to encounter slight swelling, bruising, and redness at the treatment site, along with mild pain or tenderness at treatment points and minor bleeding. A few individuals might even feel a bit dizzy or nauseous. These side effects are usually short-lived and should fade away soon after the treatment. Just follow your aftercare instructions, and if you have any concerns, feel free to reach out to Your Aesthetic - we're here to help!

If you notice any of the following symptoms, please get in touch with our clinic right away: unusual coloration (dusky or white) of treatment areas, mottling, or unexpected bruising, severe or increasing pain, redness, increasing warmth, or coolness to the touch, significant swelling, extensive bruising, itching, blisters, or pustules, loss of sensation or numbness, abnormal sensations in the affected area, difficulty swallowing or smiling, fever, or chills. If you observe the onset of any of these symptoms, contact us here.

Is this treatment safe?

Yes, cheek volume loss treatments are safe when administered by trained professionals. It is important to know that this is a medical treatment that requires a prescription prior to receiving treatment - all prescription medications carry their side effects and risks. At Your Aesthetic, our experienced registered nurses only use high-quality, TGA-approved products to ensure your safety and satisfaction.

When will I see the results?

You will see an immediate improvement in the volume and contour of your cheeks after the procedure. However, the final results will become more apparent as any swelling subsides over the following week.

UPDATES TO OUR COMMUNICATION ON COSMETIC INJECTABLES

To resolve any inconsistency in interpretation across industry areas, the TGA no longer permits references to terms such as ‘wrinkle reducing injections’ or ‘dermal fillers’ where those terms would result in a reasonable consumer understanding the intention of the content is to promote the use or supply of a prescription-only medicine or good containing such as substance. This includes through acronyms, nicknames, abbreviations and hashtags, which may be taken by a consumer as a reference to a specific prescription-only medicine or substance.
